In the background looms the Lofoten Wall and the iconic mountain, Støvla. Beyond the sea, the Vestfjorden sparkles along with the famous Moskstraumen. Lofoten's dramatic mountain formations rise from the sea and tower over the waves.

The village has both a school, grocery stores, fish processing plants, guest docks, a post office, restaurant, and pub.

In their spare time, many naturally take advantage of outdoor opportunities. Summit hikes, cycling, and fishing. In the mountains near Sørvågen, there are great fishing lakes, and for sports fishermen, there are many opportunities both in saltwater and freshwater.

Traditionally, the main economic activity has been fishing, as evidenced by the many fishermen's cabins. The culture in Sørvågen has been shaped by fishermen and life close to the elements. At the same time, tourism has become a significant part of the economy. People from all over the world come to Sørvågen to experience summit hikes, stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, cycling, northern lights safaris, RIB safaris, and fishing.

The old fishermen's cabins are an example of this duality. They are used both for their original purpose by the fishermen in the village, but many have also been converted into accommodations for visitors.

Sørvågen has everything that has made Lofoten world-famous and is a beautiful and charming little village.
