Hovden

Traditionally, fishing and fish processing were the main occupations of the residents in Hovden. The village is located near the rich fishing grounds off the coast of Vesterålen and has a robust harbor, protected by large breakwaters.

Some of the residents still fish, especially during the winter fishing season. The village is located right at the edge of the ocean, and although the view is beautiful on a lovely summer day, one can expect harsh weather conditions throughout the year. The weather can change quickly, so it's important to be prepared for anything.

Few would disagree that Hovden is a beautiful place. The soil is dominated by chalk-white sand, and the sandy beaches line up like pearls in sheltered bays. The largest beach is Malnessanden, and other gems include Timstokkan and Finnbogsanden. Towering mountains overlook the beaches.

The residents have an active village community that organizes everything from sand sculpture competitions to volleyball tournaments and fishing contests during the summer.
