Heritage & Culture

Mjøsvågen, a part of the village, hosts a charming old-fashioned landhandel – an old fashioned rural store. Rooted in the village's traditions, it serves as a gathering place for locals. You can purchase everyday groceries, and also locally produced delicacies such as goat cheese, goat sausage, and deer sausage.

Additionally, you'll find gift items, and the little café inside the store offers cakes and other treats. Throughout Mjøsvågen, cultural landmarks line the waterfront. Preserved boathouses once housed workshops for smithing, woodworking, metal casting, and furniture production. There has always been a good amount of activity in Hosanger, and that continues today. The community is vibrant, and the art scene especially thrives these days.

Nature & Outdoors

Nature is a chapter of its own. Sperneset boasts a beautiful beach with diving boards and shell sand. Picnic tables, benches, and restrooms are also available here.

Hosanger is just a short hour away from the bustling city of Bergen, yet it offers plenty of untouched nature to explore. One of the most remarkable excursions might be to Kossdalssvingene, a section of the car-free Kossdalsvegen. Constructed between 1879 and 1888, this road features no less than 17 hairpin bends winding hundreds of meters up Kossdalsskaret.
