DiscGolfandRiverLife

G låmos has activities that many other villages don’t have. Like disc golf, a retro music club, and Hapchida-Do Martial Arts. And an ice hockey rink. All this and more can be found in the village of Glåmos, surrounded by beautiful nature.

Village Life

So, Glåmos has a diverse cultural life, which also includes more ‘ordinary’ activities like soccer and handicrafts. And there’s a whole range of outdoor opportunities too.

Glåmos disc golf course has 18 holes that partially traverse through the woods and open terrain. The course is primarily intended for amateurs and advanced players, and everyone who likes or wants to try disc golf is welcome. You can bring your dog, and there are restroom facilities as well.

We mentioned the retro club in the village. They host dance evenings and rock to 50s or 80s music. This happens at the local community center. ‘The house’ is the center of the village. Here, the villagers gather for all occasions: May 17th, Christmas, weddings, confirmations, entertainment evenings, exercise, music rehearsals, handicrafts, concerts, parties at the venue and quiz nights.

Some of the residents of Glåmos practice Hapchida-do. This sport incorporates elements of Aikido, Taekwondo, Hung-gar Gung-Fu, JiuJitsu (grappling), Judo (throwing), Ninjutsu (Path to Enlightenment), Chi Kung breathing, meditative visualization, and many of the weapons associated with the martial arts.

School Life

But now, let’s turn to what happens in the classroom. The Glåmos Community Education Center consists of Glåmos School grades 1-7, a two-unit kindergarten, a complete after-school program, and a library. Here, children feel safe and comfortable in scenic surroundings and a vibrant, positive, and resourceful local community. The local environment is frequently used for teaching in both the school and the kindergarten, with a focus on outdoor activities in all arenas. The education center also includes a gymnasium, a ball court, facilities for art and crafts, and cooking.

Breathe In

The Glomma River, which flows by, is perfect for peaceful paddling. Take in the magnificent high-mountain nature and take a break from everything. Maybe you’ll spot a beaver! The fishing here is excellent, and you can catch both trout and grayling. And it tastes delicious as an evening meal, cooked over an open flame by the riverbank.

Glåmos is a village with a wide range of activities, beautiful nature, and plenty to do!
