Island of Southern Charm
Located at the northernmost tip of the island Andabeløya is the village with the same name, Andabeløy. To get there, you need to take a ferry from Flekkefjord, which runs 18 times a day and takes approximately 7 minutes. There is usually plenty of space on the small ferry because only around 80 people live on the island. But they sure know how to enjoy themselves!
«This is a safe, social and close-knit community.»
Ole Roald Danielsen, head of the local association
«Even the island itself is tucked away in a sheltered part of the fjord,» he adds with a smile. At the same time, getting to the charming little city of Flekkefjord couldn’t be easier. Many locals commute there for work, leisure activities, cinema visits, or a cozy café stop. Or shopping, hanging out or having a glass.

The ferry is widely used, and most islanders on Andabeløy also have their own boats. Here, you could say boating is a way of life. Practically learned from birth!
When you arrive at the pier, the first thing you’ll encounter is the village’s country store. People gather here to shop, chat, and have a cup of coffee.
«The store here was built through community volunteer efforts and is owned by the islanders themselves,» Ole Roald says. «It’s really the main cog in the wheel of island life here at Andabeløy. This is where you bump into familiar faces, it’s open around the clock, and now and then, it transforms into a party venue. When that happens, you can count on plenty of fresh shrimp and crab on the table!»
