Welcome! We hope you'll love Nordøyane as much as we do. Here are some useful things to know about the beautiful region in the ocean.


PRACTICAL INFORMATION

Nordøyane belongs part to the municipality of Haram, part of the municipality of Ålesund. But don't worry, it's really no extra fuzz. But first a bit of info about the municipalities.



The Municipality of Haram


The islands of Nordøyane is for the most part included in the municipality of Haram, which offers various services such as forms, permits, and community programs. You can find more information at Haram kommune, call the municipality at (+47) 70 20 75 00 or visit the municipal office at Strandgata 40, 6270 Brattvåg.


The Municipality of Ålesund


Parts of the Nordøyane region is included in the municipality of Ålesund, which of course also offer services to its residents. You can find more information at Ålesund kommune, call the municipality at (+47) 70 16 20 00 or visit the city hall at Keiser Wilhelmsgate 11, 6003 Ålesund.

Haramsøy skule is a combined primary and secondary public school located in Austnes on Haramsøya. The school features a spacious and beautiful outdoor area, and the Nordøyhallen sports hall is adjacent to the building.

SFO: the school offers SFO, after-school care. It is a program in Norway designed for children in primary school (Grades 1–4) to offer care and activities outside regular school hours.

Recycling and waste collection follow a specific schedule. Visit the local waste management Attvin for guidelines on sorting and pickup dates.

Local Organizations


Getting involved in local groups is a great way to meet people! Be a part of the community of Nordøyane, you have a lot to choose from. And remember, the activities here are for all the people of Nordøyane, they're not limited to each island.

Seaside Custom (SSC is a motor club that nurtures a passion for motorsports and the social community around all types of motor vehicles. The club aims to be open and inclusive for everyone, and seeks to be a gathering place for motor enthusiasts in Nordøyane and the surrounding areas. The clubhouse in located in Rogne, at Flemsøy/Skuløy.)

Nordøyane Idrettslag (the sports club of Nordøyane - the place to be if you like football, cross-country skiing, hiking and much more)

Kor For Oss (This mixed choir has members from all over Nordøyane, and has around 30 active singers from all age groups. Their repertoire is highly diverse, spanning both sacred and secular music - from gospel, film music, and country to '70s hits.)

Nordøyane Storband (This amateur big band features musicians from all the islands of Nordøyane.)


KRIK Nordøyane (KRIK is a sports youth club from 8th grade and up. Gatherings are held at Nordøy Grendahus approximately every four weeks)

Ullaholm Båtlag (Båtlaget is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the oak boat Ullaholm, built in 1936. Anyone can become a member, and the organization aims to be a meeting place for people across the region. Ullaholm Båtlag is committed to keeping traditional craftsmanship alive and teaching children and young people the values of good seamanship.)



 

HARØYA/FINNØYA:


Harøy Bogeskytarlag is an active archery club at Harøya.


Harøy Idrettslag (sports club) has over 300 members and a wide range of activities. From football, fitness gym, climbing, workout groups for all ages, aerobic, tabata and more. Oh, and a big stadion for track, football and athletics! And that's only the outdoor version. The indoor hall IP Huse hallen has a huge climbing wall, and a big artificial turf field.

Håp i Havet is a swimming facility with perhaps the best view in all of Norway! Soak in the warm pool while taking in sunsets -or dramatic storms- through the panoramic windows. In addition to a main pool, you’ll find a massage station, a kids’ pool, a fitness room, sauna, steam bath, and tanning beds. Ahhh...


MAKS Harøy offers free rentals of sea kayaks with safety equipment, as well as other outdoor gear. And you'll hardly believe it, but it's all for free!
