Is Freysta really free?
Yes, completely. There are no costs for becoming a member of Freysta, and there never will be. No credit cards, no hidden fees, no premium tiers.
Freysta is funded by municipalities who want to attract new residents — not by charging the people who want to move.
What is a Freysta membership?
As a member, you create a profile with your interests, preferences, and background. This allows our matching technology to suggest villages that fit you, and it allows participating municipalities to find you.
You'll also get updates about new villages, job opportunities, and news about life in rural Norway. You can browse all village profiles at any time.
Who can see my profile?
Only verified village representatives and participating municipalities can view member profiles. Your information is never sold to third parties, and you control what you share.
You can update or delete your profile at any time.
Do I need to speak Norwegian?
No. Freysta.com is entirely in English, and the Freysta Portal works in English too. While learning Norwegian is recommended if you plan to move to Norway, it's not required to use Freysta or to be contacted by villages.
Do I have to be ready to move?
Not at all. It's perfectly fine to just be curious and look at your options. You're not committing to anything by signing up.
Maybe you'll find a village and an employer that's a great match — maybe not. Maybe you want to move to Norway now, or maybe in ten years. There are no obligations, and no one will expect you to be “ready to move.”
What happens after I sign up?
You'll set up a profile describing what matters to you in a place to live, along with your skills and interests. From there, you can browse village matches, browse job openings, and wait for villages to reach out.
Some members hear from municipalities within weeks; for others, it may take longer depending on their preferences and qualifications.
Can I cancel my membership?
Of course. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from your profile settings. There are no contracts, no obligations, and no cancellation fees.
