Where is Kongsberg Maritime Longva?

Kongsberg Maritime Longva is part of the local business community in Nordøyane, five coastal islands in Møre that form a close-knit community and are deeply connected in every way. The neighbouring company Northern Islands Technology — originally part of Kongsberg’s Longva operations — is one of several local partners in a thriving maritime cluster.

The island of Flemsøya/Skuløya has that small-town feeling, but is huge when it comes to maritime industry and innovation. Here, you can be a part of international industry, while enjoying the wild west coast nature and a safe, tight-knit community. With a population of around 500, there’s plenty of space to breathe.

The island offers flat stretches along its eastern and southern coasts, as well as forests, open fields, and the majestic Skulen mountain rising nearly 500 meters above sea level.

For those who love salty air, fishing, boating, and a thriving maritime industry, Flemsøya/Skuløya is sure to leave a lasting impression. Many teenagers and adults here have their own boats — there’s plenty of fish and lobster to catch, and beautiful sandy beaches to explore.

The island is just a bridge away from Haramsøya, and with one more tunnel and bridge you’re on the mainland. Ålesund is just over an hour’s drive, and Ålesund Airport Vigra is less than 90 minutes away.

Nordøyane

Flemsøya/Skuløya is part of Nordøyane — a string of islands along the dramatic west coast of Norway, where fjords meet the open ocean.

The region consists of Lepsøya, Haramsøya, Flemsøya, Fjørtofta, Harøya, and Finnøya — all connected by bridges and tunnels. Together they form a vibrant, close-knit community with a shared maritime heritage stretching back centuries.

From the peaks of Haramsøya to the windswept shores of Fjørtofta, each island has its own character — yet they share a spirit of openness and resilience that defines life on the Norwegian coast.

The region is home to a thriving cultural scene — from the internationally noted Havgaprock festival to award-winning community theater. There are hiking peaks to conquer, lighthouses to visit, and a coastline that draws sea eagles, seals, and whale watchers alike.
